This booklet was written as a tribute to the residents of Takeley who served their country in World War Two. Some were in the armed forces (men and women), others were in nursing, the Women's Land Army, the Home Guard or worked in factories.

More than 20 people were interviewed and their stories and experiences, together with many photographs, have been recorded. Many details are included from the families  of those who have already passed away since the war.
